Malacca River & Melaka River Cruise
Melaka River Cruise |
The Malacca River is the river that cuts across Malacca town, on its way to the Straits of Malacca. It separates the civic district clustered at the foot of St Paul's Hill, from the residential and commercial district of Heeren Street and Jonker Street. A flotilla of small boats transports sightseers up and down past historic buildings, old warehouses (godowns), interesting mangrove stands, churches, and villages. The 1998 Sean Connery movie Entrapment was partially filmed here. Tours last about 45 minutes in boats ranging from 20- to 40-seaters, and normally a minimum of eight passengers is required before departure.
You can departure on Muara Jetty, next to Quayside Heritage Centre, close to the Maritime Museum easily recognisable by the replica of the Portuguese ship Flor De la Mar. From here the cruise takes you upstream as far as Taman Rempah jetty where the boat turns around and brings you back to the starting point.

Malacca (Malay: Melaka, dubbed "The Historic State" ) is the third smallest Malaysian state after Perlis and Penang. It is located in the southern region of the Malay Peninsula, next to the Straits of Malacca. It borders Negeri Sembilan to the north and Johor to the south. The capital is Malacca City, which is 148 kilometres (92 miles) south east of Malaysia's capital city Kuala Lumpur, 235 kilometres (146 miles) north west to Johor's largest city Johor Bahru, and 95 km (59 miles) north west to Johor's second largest city, Batu Pahat. This historical city centre has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 7 July 2008.
Although it was the location of one of the earliest Malay sultanates, the monarchy was abolished when the Portuguese conquered it in 1511. The head of state is the Yang di-Pertua Negeri or Governor, rather than a Sultan.

Kuala Lumpur Morning |
More than any other spot in the country, Kuala Lumpur, or "KL" as it is commonly known, is the focal point of new Malaysia. While the city's past is still present in the evocative British colonial buildings of the Dataran Merdeka and the midnight lamps of the Petaling Street nightmarket, that past is everywhere met with insistent reminders of KL's present and future. The city's bustling streets, its shining, modern office towers, and its cosmopolitan air project an unbounded spirit of progress and symbolize Malaysia's unhesitating leap into the future. To some, this spirit seems to have been gained at the loss of ancient cultural traditions, but in many ways KL marks the continuation rather than the loss of Malaysia's rich past. Like Malacca five hundred years before, KL's commercial centre is a grand meeting place for merchants and travelers from all over the world.
In the same way, the city brings together Malaysia's past and present, its many constituent cultures, and even its remarkable natural treasures, allowing first-time visitors an invaluable opportunity to see Malaysia as a whole before setting off to explore its parts. In the botanical and bird parks of the Lake Gardens one is treated to a first glimpse of the unsurpassed beauty and variety of Malaysia's plants and animals. In the vibrant Central Market, music, crafts, and cultural practices from Kelantan to Sarawak can be explored and experienced. And in the National Museum, the dizzying multiplicity of Malaysia's cultural history comes into focus. As the entry point for most visitors and the meeting point of the country's many attractions, Kuala Lumpur is a grand gateway to a fascinating destination.

Malaysia began its search for a new Federal Government Administrative Centre in the 1980s to disperse some development away from Kuala Lumpur. A site at Prang Besar in Sepang District was chosen, in view of its strategic location between Kuala Lumpur and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). The New Federal Government Administrative Centre is named “Putrajaya” in honour of Malaysia's first Prime Minister, YTM Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra al-Haj, for his invaluable contributions to the nation.
While Kuala Lumpur will remain as the country’s capital and premiere financial and commercial centre, Putrajaya will be the new Federal Government Administrative Centre.
Construction of the new Putrajaya city began in August 1995. When the city is fully developed, it will have a total of 64,000 housing units which will cater to a population of around 320,000 people.
Location
Putrajaya sits on a magnificent 4,931 hectares of land strategically located within the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC), approximately 25km south of Kuala Lumpur and 20km north of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). Putrajaya is accessible via a network of highways and the Express Rail Link (ERL Transit) from Kuala Lumpur Sentral to KLIA via Putrajaya Sentral in Precinct 7.
City In A Garden
Putrajaya is being developed as a City in a Garden. About 38% of its area is being developed into parks, lakes and wetlands while the rest is reserved for government offices, commercial and residential development, public utilities and amenities. The 600 hectare man-made Putrajaya Lake serves as a climate moderator. Currently, lake activities available are boating, canoeing, kayaking and fishing.
Intelligent City
Being located within the Multimedia Super Corridor, and in line with the Government’s e-Government initiative, Putrajaya is being developed as an intelligent city. Multimedia technologies are being implemented to facilitate communications and interactions between Government offices, between the Government and the business community, and between the Government and the community.

Who Are We
I-Berhad was established on February 2, 1967 as Sanyo Industries (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad on September 29, 1969. Over the next three decades the company operated as a branch of Sanyo Japan, focusing on the manufacture of electrical home appliances.
about
In 1999, Sumurwang acquired a controlling interest in the company and changed its name to I-Berhad. Following the adoption of a new vision of serving the Digital City, the Company moved from being a manufacturer of air-conditioners and digital products to become the leading Digital City developer.
The major shareholder in i-Berhad today is Sumurwang with 72% stake.
Where are we now?
I-Berhad’s property development activities are currently focused on the development of i-City which occupies a 72-acre freehold land in Section 7, Shah Alam (along the Federal Highway).
When i-City was first conceived in 2005, it was a RM1.5 billion township development with an approved built-up of about 5 million sq ft. But it has today evolved into a RM5 billion ultrapolis with 13 million sq ft of approved built-up that is designed as an international business hub by day and lifestyle haven by night.
The development and management of i-City is today governed by the Management and Development Agreement that was entered into between the Selangor State Government, Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA) and i-City in July 2011. Among others, the agreement allows i-City to have leisure, night tourism and other cosmopolitan lifestyle outlets and activities that operate on a 24x 7 basis. At the same time, i-City is given Temporary Occupation License (TOL) for about 30 acres of buffer land surrounding the township (to create a garden environment).
The development of i-City is also boosted by a number of socio-economic projects that are under development and within walking distance such as the i-City Interchange (scheduled to be completed by September 2013) that connects the site directly to the Federal Highway. Also nearing completion is the 300-bed Shah Alam General Hospital on a 25-acre plot of land within walking distance of i-City. In addition, MBSA has also designated a piece of land beside i-City for the development of a new police station as well as fire station.
More broadly, the i-City architecture master plan entails the development of MSC Malaysia Cybercentre offices; data centres; corporate office tower condominiums; incubator units; a 1.5 million sq ft super-regional shopping mall co-developed with Central Pattana Plc (CPN); hotels as well as serviced apartments.
To date, less than 20% of its 72-acre land has been developed while the current completed built-up accounts for less than 5% of the approved built-up. There is thus an enormous development potential in the pipeline for I-Berhad Group within i-City.
In 2012, the Group launched two property developments – the i-Residence with Gross Development Value (GDV) of RM232 million and the i-SOVO (Small Office Versatile Office) with a GDV of RM64 million.
i-Residence is the first residential development in i-City and is slated for completion in early 2015. It comprises 346 units of condominiums in two side-by-side 33-storey towers and 20 units of low-rise duplex villas. With an average selling price of RM530 per sq ft, it has set a new benchmark for Shah Alam.
On the other hand, the i-SOVO is part of a two-tower development on top of a car park podium; the other one being a 216-room 3-star hotel. Consisting of 220 units of MSC Malaysia Cybercentre offices, the i-SOVO and neighbouring hotel are targeted for completion in the third quarter of 2014.
i-City is master planned as a fully integrated intelligent city, comprising a shopping mall, corporate office towers, Cybercentre office suites, hotels, apartments, data centre and innovation centre.
Although only 15 acres of the i-City land has been developed as at end of 2012, i-City is today recognized as a catalyst in the transformation of Shah Alam into an international City. Thus in 2011, under a Management and Development Agreement entered into between the State, Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam and i-City, the approved built-up area for i-City was increased to 13 million sq ft resulting in RM 5 billion Gross Development Value for the development. I-City was also designated as a gated and guarded community with i-City being responsible for all the township services.
The Group is also planning to develop i-Grand Residence@KLCC, a luxury/branded residences condominium project in the vicinity of the Kuala Lumpur City Centre as well as i-City South, a 7 acres data centre complex opposite the existing i-City site on the other side of the Federal Highway.
Background of Sumurwang
The history of Sumurwang is one of innovation and pioneering new ventures. Thus, it was the first to introduce the spring mattresses to the bedding industry in Malaysia in the early 80s. Then in 1984, it became the first Malaysian company to invest in China with the establishment of the Tianjin mattress plant. In the early 90s, it set-up the first integrated stainless steel pipe and fitting plant in Malaysia.
The history of Sumurwang is characterized by growth through strategic alliances. The strategic allies of Sumurwang included Pacific Dunlop of Australia for the spring mattress, Haworth of USA for its office furniture as well as various partners for all its investments in China ranging from spring mattresses, air-conditioners, steel wire ropes and an independent power plant. Then in the development of i-City, ServCorp Ltd of Australia and Cisco were its ally in offering IP-based network services and applications to the tenants of i-City. Sumurwang’s history with PNB dates back to its mattress days from the 80s.
