Ixora is a genus of flowering plants in the Rubiaceae family. It consists of tropical evergreen trees and shrubs and holds around 500 species.Though native to the tropical and subtropical areas throughout the world, its centre of diversity is in Tropical Asia. Ixora also grows commonly in subtropical climates in the United States, such as Florida. It is commonly known as West Indian Jasmine. 

Other common names include: rangan, kheme, ponna, chann tanea, techi, pan, santan, jarum-jarum, Jungle flame, Jungle geranium, and many more. The plants possess leathery leaves, ranging from 3 to 6 inches in length, and produce large clusters of tiny flowers in the summer. Members of Ixora prefer acidic soil, and are suitable choices for bonsai. It is also a popular choice for hedges in parts of South East Asia, like in Thailand. In tropical climates they flower year round.

Red ixora flowers are commonly used in Hindu worship, as well as in Indian folk medicine.

Floria 2013 Putrajaya Flower and Garden Festival also known will be on its 6th installment this year. Held again at the same venue of Precinct 2 at the Waterfront in Putrajaya, this year will see even more participants attending. This is Malaysia's largest flower and garden show to date and the event last year attracted over 500,000 visitors. This year, a larger turnout is confirmed as the tourism minister of Malaysia expects over 1 million visitors for this years event which is spread over nine days. While it is recommended to visit the place on a weekday, the main activities will take place over the weekend. 

During Floria 2013, there will also be another interesting event called Magic of the Night Parade 2013 which is the second year after a successful launch in 2012. This unique parade will showcase a number of boats local and international, which are decorated with flowers and lights. They will parade along the lakeside showing the beautiful designs amongst the night backdrop. The Magic of the Night Boat Parade takes place at 8.30pm and over the weekend by the waterfront at Precinct 2 in Putrajaya. This is an event not to be missed by tourist and locals. A stunning fireworks show takes place after the night boat parade.
